An excellent book! I just finished reading this book. I found it to be a very practical and eye-opening book on friendship. This book studies 3 friendships in the Bible. One very clear idea is that we need each other.

Hmmm, the first relationship that comes to mind is Naomi and Ruth. But after that I can't really think of any gal relationships that are described in the Bible. I would imagine that the Mary's were friends. You could probably make a case for Mary and Martha, but then again, they're sisters. Deborah and Jael were contemporary heroes, but I can't remember anything about a friendship between them.

So I'm dying to know, what were the other two relationships? :-)

One relationship was not women. It was of David and Jonathan. The other was of Elizabeth and Mary.I found the book very practical and freeing. It had thoughts and ideas I hadn't thought of or at least that had not crystallized yet.

hmmm, i'd considered both of those but tossed out david and jonathan because they're guys and tossed out mary and elizabeth because it seemed more like there was a bond between jesus and john than that there was a bond between the moms.

so i'm curious, what kind of stuff did you learn? or should i just go get a copy of the book for myself? ;-)

I do recommend that you buy the book. Mine is all marked up and I plan to read it again.I had never considered Mary and Elizabeth friends either until I read the book. One of the points was the importance of having someone older and someone younger as a friend. Mentoring is one thing this teaches. Another part of the book talks about two different kinds of friends; one being like a rose and the like an alligator. The rose is a good friendship. The rose is beautiful, smells good but sometimes pricks you. The alligator. not good! Run away. I had never thought much before that it was OK to run away. So, have I whetted your appetite to buy the book?
